Border Conflicts Between Tibet and China

This 8 page report discusses the basic issues - political, economic, cultural - surrounding the border conflicts between China and Tibet. Tibet is formally considered an autonomous region of the People's Republic of China. Much of the 20th century has involved conflict over that issue and how and when Tibet will be 'freed.' In October, 1950, little more than a year after the Communists gained full control of mainland China, their troops invaded Tibet. Now, nearly fifty years after the invasion, the Chinese still maintain their authority by armed force. Cambodian Women and the Khmer Rouge

Various empirical studies reported that Cambodian women experienced the most extensive trauma. These women were victims of physical violence, often of a sexual nature, perpetrated by their fellow citizens. They were exposed to multiple forms of emotional abuse, torture, and forced labor. Many witnessed the deaths or executions of their husbands, and most lost at least one, and often several, of their children.
